The best way to develop and perfect performance skills really is to make the most of every chance to perform. Competitions present an excellent opportunity to perform in front of an audience, become comfortable being on stage and learn how to relax and enjoy performing. Through these experiences dancers begin to build confidence, develop their own style, and learn how to engage with an audience. They also have the added bonus of being heaps of fun and a great way to make friends.
Competitions can be entered as solos, duos, trios or groups, and in a wide range of classes from classical ballet and jazz, right through to musical theatre and entertainment pieces. There is no set age to start competitions, so if you're interested discuss this with your teacher.
