Grade One, Grade Two & Grade Three Ballet
Step into Ballet Excellence with our Grade 1, 2 & 3 Classes

What to Expect in Our Grade 1, 2 & 3 Classes
Our Grade 1, 2, and 3 classes are designed to offer a blend of creative expression and foundational ballet training tailored to this developmental stage of young dancers. Students are introduced to new techniques and concepts that lay the groundwork for enhanced strength, coordination, and control, vital elements in classical ballet at their level. Additionally, our classes foster artistic expression and musical awareness, guiding students in discovering their unique dance persona as they explore movement and performance.
These elements are integrated through production and performance-based work, aligned with the Royal Academy of Dance exam syllabus, supplemented by non-syllabus technique exercises, and incorporating Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) exercises to develop muscle memory and conditioning suitable for their level of advancement.

Grade 1, Grade 2 and Grade 3: one 60-minute class, $145 per term.
Grade 3 students are invited to also attend Junior Open Ballet Technique as an extension class.
Please see the timetable for the current class schedule.

Time Investment and Home Practice
To ensure dancers feel confident and well-prepared for performances and examinations, we require all students to practice at home. At this level we recommend a minimum of 90 minutes per week focused practice at home.
Recognising that self-motivation is still developing at this age, we ask parents to support their children in completing their practice. We provide video resources to assist parents in helping their children review and perfect their ballet techniques at home.

Uniform & Hair Requirements
Our Grade 1, 2, and 3 ballet students are required to wear the following:
- Mulberry sleeveless leotard
- Mulberry wrap skirt
- Mulberry crossover (for cold days)
- Light pink leg warmers (for cold days)
- Ballet tights
- Leather, full-sole flat ballet shoes with ribbons
- Character skirt, pink ribbons
- Character shoes (Grade 1 & 2 low heels, Grade 3 Cuban heel)

Students must wear their hair in a well-groomed ballet bun.
Headbands and clips should be used to keep any loose hair off face.
If hair is too short for a bun, this should be tied up in a method that keeps all hair off face, such as a braid or pigtails.
