What to Expect in Our Classes

We run our preschool classes with a structured approach to give students the best possible foundation. This ensures students enjoy a fulfilling dance experience whilst preventing the development of unsafe habits. While we expect our littlest students to learn focus, correct behaviour, and technical skills, we use positive coaching methods and incorporate stories and games to make learning fun and engaging.

We love to infuse our classes with imaginative themes such as Princesses, Under the Sea, and Twinkling Stars, which not only captivate our little dancers but also serve as a subtle foundation for the development of classical ballet technique.

Personalised Attention and Small Class Sizes

Our preschool classes are kept small, providing a calm and quiet environment for children to settle into and focus, allowing for plenty of one-on-one time. We prioritise quality over quantity to ensure each child receives personalised attention and support. This approach helps children feel comfortable and develop confidence in their dancing.

Class Viewing

We fully support parents remaining while a child settles and becomes comfortable with the new environment that is the dance studio. Sometimes this can take 5 minutes, sometimes a few weeks of attending. We also encourage parents to remain in the studio during class if your child needs assistance in the bathroom.

As your child starts to settle more in class, please consider whether it is in their best interest for you to leave the studio during class, as this will enable your child (and the others in class) to better focus and get the most out of their class. Please click to read our full viewing policy.

Uniform & Hair Requirements

Our preschool ballet students are required to wear the following:

- Pink cap-sleeved leotard
- Pink skirt with bow
- Pink crossover (for cold days)
- Ballet socks
- Ballet shoes with elastics

Students must wear their hair tied back, with headbands or clips used to keep any loose hair off the face. A ballet bun is preferred where possible.

Structure of the Dance Year

Our dance year is structured to provide a well-rounded experience for our students, with key events and milestones to look forward to:

- Annual Production: Held in Term 2 (June), our annual production is a highlight of the year, where even our youngest students are given their first taste of performing on stage, often with the support of the senior students.
- Exams: In this introductory level there are no exams or assessments for students to prepare for. This will be introduced when they move up to Preprimary.

Time Investment and Parental Support

For our youngest dancers to feel confident and prepared for performances, and to embed their class learnings, we strongly recommend parental support in practicing at home. To facilitate home practice, we provide video resources that parents can use to help their children review and perfect their ballet techniques.

Join us and let your child's ballet journey begin with enchantment and joy!
